The
Resolution
Run 10K is a new race that is being hosted
by the Richland Northeast Cross Country Team. The team also hosts the popular
Run Wild 5K
in August each year. Both events will be part of an inaugural five-race
trail series, which is also set to begin in 2010. The goal of the Carolina Trail
Championship Series is to promote trail
running, as well as our public parks and forests. Be a part of the series
from the start and sign up today for the Resolution Run 10K.
The course for the Resolution Run is the 10K bike trail at Sesqui State
Park, and is a mix of dirt roads and single track trails. There are enough
dips, turns, roots, and hills to keep it interesting. You might even see a
fox or two! The course is well marked and will be staffed with ample course
monitors and HAM radio operators from the Columbia Amateur Radio Club. There
will be two water stations along the course, as well as post-race refreshments
in the retreat center.
The fun starts at 9:00AM with the 10K run, followed at 9:05 by the 3.5
mile Walk. The start for both races is the beginning of the bike trail near
the retreat center, which will be the site of packet-pickup, race day registration
and the awards ceremony. The finishes for the two events are different so
need to worry about runners and walkers getting mixed up at the finish.
The walkers will follow the 3.5 mile firebreak road which runs the perimeter
of the park. Both can be viewed on the Course Map page linked at the left.
To register, you can click on the Mail-In Entry Form link to the left,
print that out and mail it in by December 26 or better yet, check out the
option to Register Online with StrictlyRunning.com. You save $2.50 off the
mail-in costs, plus you help reduce the use of paper. So THINK GREEN
and register online.
We hope you will try to run in all of the races of the Carolina Trail Championship
Series. Part of the Tour de Columbia Race Series, it will recognize overall
winners and age group winners, as well as those who participate in all five
of the races.
