Generate a list of about 10 colleges to be explored

Get an estimate of how much financial aid your family may qualify for by completing SAT’s estimator at www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov or ACT’s Financial Aid Need Estimator at www.act.org/fane

If you are an athlete who is considering playing a collegiate sport at a Division I or Division II level check with the counselor to make sure that by the time you graduate you will have taken 16 courses to satisfy the NCAA Clearinghouse rules.
When registering for senior year courses check to make sure the courses meet the requirements to attend a 4 year public college. It is necessary to meet the academic elective requirement.
At the end of the year develop a resume
If you will apply to highly selective colleges in your senior year, consider asking one or more junior teacher to write a letter of recommendation near the end of your junior and have it on file in guidance or saved on their computer to use early in the fall of the senior year.
If you plan to play a collegiate sport at a Division I or Division II level then complete the www.ncaaclearinghouse.net application on-line. Print out the counselor request form and bring it and $2.00 to guidance to have your counselor send and official transcript to the NCAA Clearinghouse.
