Sophomore Year
  • Focus on earning good grades Work on study habits
  • Become involved in school activities with an eye toward obtaining a leadership role in the junior and senior years.
  • Take ACT’s PLAN test. The PLAN is great preparation for the ACT and is a good predictor of success on the ACT. It will show if the student is learning the skills needed for college-level work
  • Continue to learn about careers. Explore careers on SCOIS (www.scois.net) See one of the two CDFs (Career Development Facilitators) Linda Thompson (lthompso@rnh.richland2.org and Emily Curry (ecurry@rnh.richland2.org) in E109.
  • Start collecting information about colleges through the guidance counselor Kathy Handel: khandel@rnh.richland2.org and Kim Sanders (E109): ksanders@rnh.richland2.org
  • Build a list of colleges that are of interest
  • Save ($) for college
  • Take PACT in the spring (required to earn a South Carolina high school diploma

    In order to be a junior a student must complete 12 credits and have two English credits as well as two math credits.
