Each student at RNE is encouraged to use their own talents and passions to develop projects that will serve others.
Food collection for God's Storehouse: Any non-perishable food item can be donated to our school. December 1-Dec. 11
Coat collection for Salvation Army: gently used coats and jackets may be turned into any RNE student
Homeless care packages: Sponsored by Interact Club
Blood drive  
for American Red Cross Tuesday, December 2 sponsored by Mrs. Belka's Anatomy and Physiology Class
 Money for Children's GardenPCA Dance HOPE  
Money for Camp Kemo

Teachers  developed learning projects to connect this service to the curriculum. They included :

Building Construction: Built a set piece for the HOPE assembly

Dance: Developed a dance for HOPE and performed for a variety of venues

English Department: Connected literature selections on poverty,  the film "Corridor of Shame"  to various collections of HOPE

Science department: Held annual blood drive for American Red Cross

Convergence Media Program : Developed information short film on HOPE projects as well as publicity on news show

AVID program: connected leadership lessons to food collections and service

The Art Department  conducted the Hunger Baby Project

The Music Department developed and performed music in orchestra and band for the HOPE assembly.

Mr. Whetstone's Self-Contained Class prepared holiday cards to give to the homeless while learning daily living skills.

Many other teachers worked on connecting the H.O.P.E. project to their curriculum making this the most successful service learning project in the history of Richland Northeast High School.
